A customer subscribes to your newsletter: yes! That’s worth a small victory dance because your email list has grown. Once customers sign up for your newsletter, they need to confirm their subscription. That’s why Klaviyo sends an email with a link for the customer to confirm their subscription. But what if the generated email doesn’t quite match your preferences? How do you change the email? We’re happy to explain.

The Problem and the Solution

Problem

When customers sign up for your newsletter, they receive an automated email titled: "Confirm your subscription." You’re not satisfied with this email and want to adjust the text, but you’re having trouble making changes. What should you do?

Solution

Follow the steps below to quickly make adjustments to the "Confirm your subscription" email:

  1. Go to Lists & Segments;
  2. Select Newsletter;
  3. Go to Subscribe & Preference Pages;
  4. Click on Email Confirmation.

Here, you can easily customize the email.

More Information About the Confirmation Email

You can edit the subscription confirmation email under the Email Confirmation section on the Subscribe & Preference Pages. This is where you’ll find the template to modify the double opt-in confirmation email that users receive when signing up for a newsletter. Since this automated email is meant to gather consent, customization is somewhat limited.

If you wish to completely disable the double opt-in confirmation email, follow these steps:

  1. Click on the list you want to edit;
  2. Select Settings;
  3. Check the box next to Single Opt-In;
  4. Click Update List Settings.

We recommend using double opt-ins because they help prevent misuse. By adding an extra step to the sign-up process, the chances of receiving invalid or incorrect email addresses are reduced.

Subject Line of the Confirmation Email:

Unfortunately, you cannot customize the subject line of the confirmation email. Additionally, the text “Yes, I want to subscribe” in the confirmation button cannot be changed. This is because the email is solely focused on asking for the customer’s consent, making it necessary to be as explicit as possible about what a user is agreeing to. This limits customization options, but it ensures clarity for the customer.

What Can You Customize?

If you're not entirely satisfied with the confirmation email and want to align it more with your brand's style, consider adjusting the color of the confirmation button. Here's how:

  1. Go to Forms;
  2. Click on Buttons;
  3. Select Background;
  4. Enter the color code for the background.

This way, the email will better match the look and feel of your brand.
