How to combine two or more email lists in Klaviyo?

You will learn two different methods to merge multiple Klaviyo lists into one list:

• Create a segment and optionally convert it into a list.
• Export profiles from one list and import them into another list.

Use a segment to merge two or more lists:

1. Go to Audience > Lists & Segments.
2. Click on Create List/Segment.
3. Click on Segment.
4. Create a segment with the following definition:
   • If someone is in or not in a list > is in > LIST_NAMEOF
   • If someone is in or not in a list > is in > LIST_2_NAME
5. Click on Create Segment.‍
6. Optional: Click on Manage Segment > Convert to List if you want to turn the segment into a list.

The example below shows what this segment definition might look like. Use OR connectors to combine the segment conditions and obtain contacts from any of the desired lists. Note that "OR" is inclusive, while "AND" is exclusive. Once you use AND, profiles must meet multiple conditions to be included.

Note: Converting a segment to a list is permanent and cannot be undone.

After merging the lists and converting the segment into a new list, you need to update any sign-up forms and welcome flows to use the new list instead of the old list. If you want to prevent the welcome flow from being triggered for your combined list, read our article.

Export profiles from one list to another:

1. Determine which list you want to remove (your source list) and which you want to keep (your destination list).
2. Convert any flows associated with your destination list to manual.
3. Go to Audience > Lists & Segments.
4. Click on your source list.
5. Click on Manage List > Export List to CSV.
6. Ensure that only Email is selected on the Export Review page.
7. Click on Start Export.
8. Return to the Lists & Segments tab.
9. Click on your destination list.
10. Click on Manage List > Import Contacts.
11. Import the CSV file you just downloaded, but do not update your consent.
12. Wait a few hours, then set all flows updated in step 2 back to Live.

By following these steps, you won't need to export and re-import fields other than email, as all events and custom properties within the profile exist independently of the list(s) a profile is associated with.

Once these steps are complete, you can fully delete the source list, as all contacts will now be in your new combined list.
