Filter your own IP traffic in Google Analytics
Steps to Filter Your Own IP Traffic in Google Analytics
Step 1: Open Google Analytics
https://analytics.google.com/analytics
Step 2: Click on "Admin" on the left side
Step 3: Create a View
Here you have two options:
Option 1: Add a new view.
Click on the blue "+ Create View" button on the right side.
Fill in a name for this view and select the correct time zone.
Option 2: Make a copy of the existing view.
Click on "View Settings" on the right side.
In the next screen, click on "Copy View" at the top right.
Step 4: Add an (IP) Filter
Click on "Filters" on the right side (View column).
On the next page, click on "Add Filter".
Then visit myip.com in a new tab to find the IP address of your current location. Copy your IP address.
Repeat this step for each location where your employees work (home, office).
Next, choose to create a new filter (default selected) and give a recognizable name for the "Filter Name". Tip: Add a location so it’s clear later for which location or person this is.
Select "Predefined" filter type and then choose "Exclude, traffic from the IP addresses that match".
Paste the copied IP address in the IP Address field and remove the last numbers and the last dot (.). So 123.123.123.1 becomes 123.123.123 (without the dot and without the 1).
With new laws and regulations, a full IP address is considered personal data, and the complete IP address will no longer be tracked by Analytics.
Click on "Save" and repeat this step if you have additional locations.|
Your filter is now applied.
Data from your location will no longer be included in the reports. In the 'regular' view, you will still see the data. This is also the intention, as you want to have a backup. If you make a mistake, you cannot recover the data.
